What is taught in the course?
To have the basic skills that a first aid course for babies and toddlers can offer, should give you the reassurance that you are capable of keeping children safe. By completing a first aid course for babies and toddlers, you will also improve your practice to be able to assess risks, provide a safe environment, and know exactly what to do in an emergency where first aid may be required. As a parent, nanny, or childminder, this should be a priority and by completing a baby first aid course, you will develop your understanding across each of these areas.
When it comes to children, you should be prepared for any kind of emergency. Unfortunately, small children do not understand risks, and so it is down to the adult to risk assessment for them, and a family home can be a challenge to some. Children are curious about the world around them and will explore in many ways, including putting things in their mouth.
In the event of a much bigger accident happening, we hope you will never have to use the first aid skills that you learn from the first aid course for babies and toddlers, but unfortunately, these situations can happen, and being prepared and knowing exactly what to do in that capacity is the best practice that you can provide to any family as their nanny or childminder. For parents, it is having the understanding of what to do in any given situation that should in turn give you confidence and allow you to remain calm and focused. The Childcare Help baby first aid course in the UK will be taken face-to-face and follow a set of basic skills needed to care for young children.
